Barbarian Joe Plunkett is the latest addition to the Cambridge ranks. The rampaging hooker  has been an integral part of Loughborough University’s successful BUCS Super Rugby campaigns which earned him selection for the Barbarians squad. Joe is a former Viking, having joined North Walsham in the U6s and progressed through to the 1st XV and selection for the Leicester Tigers Academy. He describes being a part of the Barbarians as a career highlight so far, under former England coach Brian Ashton and Lions coach John Spencer.

Joe can’t wait to join his team-mates in the battles ahead: “I’m really pleased to be joining Cambridge at such an exciting time with a new group and coaching staff. I can’t wait to get stuck into preseason, get to know the boys and the city better and have a successful season together”.

Head Coach Craig Newby is impressed with his latest capture:

“Joe is one of those young men that has a huge ceiling and the drive to go after it. Joe is a high action fully committed hooker and will thrive with us this year. I look forward to seeing Joe take the challenge of the Champ season head on”.
