Cambridge forwards coach Neil Harris has selected his squad for the visit of Doncaster Knights in round 16 of the Championship.
The game takes place at Ellgia Fields on Saturday April 12th 2025 – kick off is at 3pm. On what will be his final afternoon at Ellgia Fields, here’s Neil Harris:
“It’s not been an ideal week, with a day’s less recovery time and that long bus journey back from Cornish Pirates, but there’s a lot of frustration in the group after last weekend. The boys are looking forward to taking that frustration out against Doncaster on Saturday. It’s been a long time since we scored three tries in a first half. It was good to see some real pace out wide, it was good to see us break through the middle and it’s always nice from a forwards’ perspective when one or two of your special plays come off
“The DNA of our side is starting to change and it’s allowing us the opportunity to score more tries in general, which, pre-Christmas, we were struggling to do. We know Doncaster are a very good side but we’ve always had good periods in every game we’ve played against them. We do stress them and we do challenge them. We almost won at Castle Park last season in the Championship. No games at this level are easy. We’re all excited about this weekend. We’re getting better and more confident and let’s not forget we’ve beaten Ampthill and Cornish Pirates here this season”
Ben Adams, Gareth Baxter and Sam Hanks return but the Blood & Sand will still be without George Bretag-Norris and Pete White. Zac Nearchou is serving the final week of his suspension. Saints quartet Oli Scola, Ewan Baker, Will Glister and Reuben Logan all feature, alongside Bristol Bears scrum half Sam Edwards. Jared Cardew has suffered a set-back with his shoulder injury.
