Cambridge interim head coach Anthony Allen announces his squad ahead of the visit of Hartpury in round 14 of the Championship.
The game takes place at Ellgia Fields on Saturday March 29th 2025 – kick off is at 3pm.
Here’s Anthony:
“Having run third-placed Coventry so close away from home, and having scored five tries in the process, we’re very much looking forward to testing ourselves against Hartpury. Historically we’ve always done better at home than away against them – they’re also riding high in the Championship and have a thriving relationship with Premiership Gloucester.
Gareth Baxter, Ben Brownlie and Jared Cardew are still out, as iare Sam Hanks and Joe Green. Eli Caven returns for Will Glister. Zac Nearchou, Archie Vanes and Ewan Baker all start. Joe Gaffan keeps his place after last week’s debut at Coventry. Matt Dawson is back amongst the replacements. And scrum half Sam Edwards is back at Ellgia Fields on loan from Bristol. Northampton Saints Scotland U20s back row Reuben Logan will make his first appearance in Blood & Sand off the bench.
“We’ve been working hard to improve our basics, and add layers to our attacking game. That’s paid dividends in terms of tries this year and we want to see more of the same. We showed tremendous resilience against Coventry and the boys kept going til the final whistle. We were a little unlucky in the second half and almost sprang what would have been considered an upset at the Butts Park Arena. Now it’s time to show our supporters what we can do at home. We’re overdue a win – we should have had a few more. We want to put that right this Saturday”.
