Here’s Anthony: “Firstly, what a relief to get back on the pitch! It’s been far too long since our last outing against Caldy, especially given the result, and we can’t wait to get back to playing rugby. The boys had a week or so off and then were straight back into training. There were a lot of tired and battered bodies. We’re very pleased to have a proper, competitive fixture with our return leg against Chinnor this weekend and we’re going to work hard to overcome the 9- point deficit and win the Not The Prem Cup. Silverware is always a good incentive and it’ll be an exciting afternoon – there’s a real buzz about this one.
“Saturday will be a big test in terms of putting into practice our learnings from that Caldy defeat and another step in our preparation for the resumption of our Championship fixtures at Coventry on March 22nd. Chinnor are a well-drilled, well-coached outfit who will front up and challenge us. There’ll be no surprises. We’ve played them twice already this season and not come out on the right side of the score board so we aim to make the third time the charm. It was a great occasion down there under lights and we’re aiming to replicate that this afternoon, with a better outcome”.
“With the Premiership Cup, the 6 Nations and the U20s 6 Nations still ongoing, our regular Premiership loan players aren’t available to us. Conversely, we have our players who’ve been out on loan at Bristol Bears, Sale Sharks, Colchester and Darlington Mowden Park back available for selection. We’ll be fielding the most competitive side we can, and also use this as a stepping-stone as we build up to the rest of the Championship season. It’s a big opportunity for the squad to show their mettle as we move into those final three months”.
