CAMBRIDGE INTERIM HEAD COACH ANTHONY ALLEN MAKES CHANGES AHEAD OF THE TRIP TO COVENTRY IN ROUND 13 OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The game takes place at the Butts Park Arena on Saturday March 22nd 2025 – kick off is at 3pm

Here’s Anthony:

“We’re going up against a full-time outfit on 3G this weekend and it’s something we’ll embrace and use to show how well and how hard we’ve been working. We’ve previously found it difficult there in the Championship – albeit under lights on a Friday night – so we want to out a bit of a gauntlet down and challenge them this time out. Cambridge and Coventry have had some tremendous tussles over the years as both clubs climbed the rugby pyramid. The league table doesn’t lie but we want to show how we’re building and we’re looking forward to the challenge afforded us this weekend.

 

“We need to show we’re getting better and better against tough opposition. We’ve been scoring a lot of tries, which is a by-product of the way we’ve been training and playing. We need to have that mind set again on Saturday, which is non-negotiable. We have to be the best version of ourselves this weekend to take what we want to out of the game.

 

“With the Premiership Cup, the 6 Nations and the U20s 6 Nations now over, our regular Premiership loan players are slowly becoming available for us to select. Hooker Archie Vanes is back from Leicester Tigers – timely as Ben Brownlie has a hamstring problem. Our other hooker Morgan Veness has had game time with Rotherham in National One recently and he’ll be on the bench. Backs Will Glister and Ewan Baker come in from Northampton Saints. Unfortunately we’ll still be without Gareth Baxter, Jared Cardew and Josh Skelcey.”
