Cambridge Rugby Head Coach Richie Williams has named his 23-man squad to travel to Hartpury RFC for round 14 of the championship on Friday night.

A short turnaround see’s the Blood and Sand on the road just six days after their clash with top of the table Ealing Trailfinders last Saturday.

After suffering a heavy defeat to the Ealing powerhouse, Williams was keen to quickly turn his side’s attention to the task at hand this week;

“Round 14 sees us travel to Gloucestershire to face in-form Hartpury RFC under the Friday night lights. They are coming off the back of a strong home win against Bedford Blues.”

“We have had to dust ourselves down very quickly and alter our focus ahead of the game this Friday evening. Hartpury are a very settled squad who seem to have grown their performances since the start of the season.”

Making just a few minor changes to his side this week, the line-up includes both Hoppe brothers with Tom returning to the fold from injury;

“Returning to our squad this week are centre Tom Hoppe and tight head prop Matty Collins. Dual registered players Kieran Verden and Geordie Irvine drop out of the squad whilst Ben Brownlie returns to start at hooker with Morgan Veness moving to the bench and George Bretag Norris starts in the back row.”

The clash will take place at 19:45 on Friday night at Hartpury University stadium. Tickets to the fixture are available now via the Hartpury RFC website.

Cambridge will then return home to Ellgia Fields on Saturday 9 March for their first ever double header match with both the men and women taking on Bedford respectively.
