Cambridge Rugby are very proud to announce that Australian back row Ben Adams will captain the side in the 2025/26 Champ Rugby season. Ben has 135 caps over several spells at Ellgia Fields.
Head Coach Craig Newby is very pleased that Ben has accepted the role: “Ben has the respect of the playing group, the staff and the Club as a whole. He’s had a really good pre-season and is in good fighting shape and I’m really proud to work with him. From Day One when I looked at what I wanted the Club to look like he was one of those we targeted to keep around, culturally, on and off the field. He and his partner Jas are heavily invested in the Club socially and emotionally. They’re brilliant people. I’m really chuffed that he accepted the role. He’s one of many leaders we have – he’s an established leader, he knows exactly who he is, and is authentic to himself and to the players, and he’s got a role to grow the younger more inexperienced leaders like Dan Eckersley, Jamie Annand and Jake McCay, our game drivers”.
Ben says, “I’m truly honoured to be named captain of this Club. Cambridge took a risk recruiting me from Australia back in 2015 – and it is a privilege to lead the team and the Club that has become my home-away-from- home”.
