Cambridge Rugby Signs South African Lock!
Cambridge Rugby is excited to announce the arrival of Rhys Fulford.
Rhys is a physical and abrasive second row, with excellent leadership qualities, and joins Cambridge from his native South Africa where he plays for Hamilton RFC having represented Western Province and previously captained both Stellenbosch University and St Alban’s School 1st XV.
Weighing in at 120kg and towering at 6’6”, Rhys thrives on the attritional side of the game as a big ball-carrier and tackler, destructive in both attack and defence, as well as being a colossus at the lineout.
Rhys is thrilled to make the move to Ellgia Fields:
“I couldn’t be more excited to get going at Cambridge for the upcoming season and get the chance to work with Craig and the team. This decision has come at a time of my career where I feel I’m playing some of my best rugby yet, and can’t wait to add an aspect of physicality and work rate wherever I can”.
Head Coach Craig Newby was extremely pleased to have secured Rhys’s signature as he builds a new squad:
“Rhys plays with his heart on his sleeve and leads with actions every time he steps on the field. I’m genuinely excited about the impact Rhys will have on our team, both on and off the field. A very good man and I cant wait to work with him”.
