Huge weekend for Cambridge women’s sides as we fielded two teams.
The inner warrior game was played barbarian style with Cambridge & Ely joining up to play two games against a seasoned St Ives & March side. Cambridge played a really strong first game against a full St Ives side with some Cambridge players playing their first ever game of rugby. We dominated in the second half of the first game, sadly just missing out on the win due to a disallowed try and ending in a well-fought draw. Straight into a second game against a fresh March side, Cambridge continued with strong defence but a bit of reduced stamina ending in a close loss but a really enjoyable day overall. Forward of the match went to Amal for her confident tackling and strong scrums and back of the match went to Lilian for switching in as both winger and fullback and making big try saving tackles.
Congratulations to Connie, Nicol and Lily for their first games with Cambridge. We are so proud to be fielding another women’s side and looking forward to hosting next.
