Cambridge put in a huge shift this weekend, starting strong with an early score from top try-scorer Kate Willis. A messy 20-minute spell followed, with tight Aylesbury defence slowing Cambridge’s attack, but massive jackals from Mez and Margaux kept momentum alive. Just before halftime, Kate struck again to settle the side.
After the break, Cambridge showed real grit – held up over the line four times in a row but refusing to let frustration win. Their persistence paid off as more points finally came, including a brilliant first try for the women’s team from Rhi, whose footwork and determination got her over the line. Sarah added a calm, collected finish of her own, while Laura landed two conversions.
Even with two yellow cards, Cambridge stayed dominant. Phoebe carried hard all game, and second-row Sarah stole crucial lineout ball to keep Cambridge in control.
