Cambridge Rugby is very pleased to announce the signing of mobile, confrontational England U20s back row Dan Eckersley.
Dan began his professional career with Wasps, rising through the academy before winning some senior caps for the former Premiership side. His performances earned him notable recognition on an international level, winning several caps at U18s and U20s level in Jim Mallinder’s England squads alongside the likes of Premiership stalwarts Fin Baxter, Freddie Thomas and Oscar Beard.
He arrives at Ellgia Fields from Loughborough University where he’s played a dynamic role in their prominent BUCS Rugby campaigns and was seen most recently at Ellgia Fields with the England Students squad training against our Champ Rugby side.
Dan can’t wait to get going at Cambridge: “It’s such a brilliant opportunity to come into a club with a new bunch of players and staff, and I’m excited to give my best to make us thrive in the Champ!”
Cambridge head coach Craig Newby is just as enthusiastic about his new signing: “Dan is a great addition to our club. He plays the game with passion and skill, and only knows one way on a rugby field and that is to compete for everything.
“His drive and effort to work hard and fight for every moment is the definition of what we are building. I can’t wait to work closely with Dan to help him achieve his goals.”
