Fullback Ethan Thorne is another young recruit to Cambridge’s Champ Rugby back-line. Thorne has spent the past three seasons with French outfit US Oyannax in a period which saw them temporarily reach the heights of the Top 14. A product of Northampton Saints Academy and St Joseph’s College, Ethan’s already shown his class in Cambridge colours with a dominant performance and a try-scoring debut against Ampthill’s 2nd XV for the 1923 Academy side last season.
Head coach Craig Newby says of his latest capture:”Scoring tries, making breaks and beating defenders are all a big part of Ethan’s game, but what stands out to me is his ability to make multiple efforts in phase play and he never ever gives up on a play either side of the ball. Courageous in the air, brave and skilful in everything he goes at I believe Ethan has a good future ahead”.
Ethan can’t wait to enter the fray: “I’m really excited about the opportunity to join Cambridge Rugby, it was really a no brainer once the opportunity arose!”
