Head coach Stefan Liebenberg has announced his Cambridge Colts Captains for the coming season. Kamran Bennet will lead the side, assisted by centre Caleb Reeves.
Liebenberg says:
“Both players are selfless and will do anything to contribute to the team environment – something we are pushing hard to implement is the importance of being a positive team member. Thes two epitomise this ethic.“Kamran is one of the players that will do the work no one sees, leads from the front and won’t take a backward step. He has come through the Mini & Youth setup at Cambridge and has played an integral part in this team’s development through the age groups over the years”.
Speaking of the appointment, Kamran had this to say:
“It means everything to me to be named Captain of this team. When I have played in previous seasons I’ve always been very vocal on the pitch so communicating with my teammates has been very comfortable. It is an honour to know that this year I will lead this team in every aspect, on and off the pitch. Being a captain is not only talking during a game but also helping players out off the field, whether that’s in training helping people learn the moves and skills we are practicing.“Coming into Colts rugby last year I know first-hand how daunting it can be, due to the step up into a higher standard with older boys. I will make sure we as a team will fight for every second we are on that pitch and I’m determined this year we are going to give ourselves the best opportunity to bring home some silverware”.
Caleb Reeves will be Vice Captain. – Liebenberg has this to say about the young centre:
“Caleb is an exciting young player with plenty of potential. He leads by example and that’s something this teams thrives on. We’re looking forward to a successful season”.
Cambridge Colts are back in action this Sunday in the National Colts Cup at Bury St Edmunds RFC. Kick off at the Haberden KO 1PM on the 1st XV pitch.
