6’1” winger Josh Skelcey is the latest to join the Blood & Sand – he arrives from Championship local rivals Ampthill. Josh made 47 appearances for the Mob – 11 last Championship season – and has also played for Northampton Saints, Birmingham Moseley, Plymouth Albion and Nottingham Rugby.

Originally from Bedfordshire, 29-year-old Josh started playing rugby at 13. His potential was spotted early on and he joined the player development programme and academy at Premiership side Saints. Later, Josh He was chosen for the 2013 England U18 squad that won the European Championships and toured South Africa.

Cambridge head coach Richie Williams says:

“Josh is a robust and experienced winger who will provide more depth and quality in the back three. A number of our current squad have played with Josh previously and they all endorse his qualities as a player and more so as a person. He has always impressed me with his physicality and work-rate whenever we have played against him at Ampthill and previously Plymouth Albion”.
