6’6” lock/back row Kayde Sylvester is coming home! Kayde has joined Cambridge from Northampton Saints – and returns to Grantchester Road, where he began his rugby journey as a Blood & Sand Mini and Youth player.

Kayde played for Saints in the Premiership Rugby Academy League at the age of 16 – and an exceptional start to the 2019/20 Under-18s season saw his aerial skills and athleticism catch the coaches’ eyes and earn him a full-time position at Saints for the 2020/21 season.

The 22-year-old made his first Saints appearance in 2021/22, debuting against London Irish in the Premiership Cup that season. He leaves Franklins Gardens with 7 appearances – 2 off the bench – and 1 try in Saints colours. He’s also spent time on loan at Championship clubs Nottingham and Bedford Blues.

Cambridge Head Coach Richie Williams says:

It has been great to observe Kayde’s progress at Northampton Saints since he joined their academy. Over time, he has been able to refine his game and learn from being in a Premiership winning team.

Kayde and his family have a strong affinity to Cambridge Rugby. He, his brother and sister having all represented various age groups.

We are proud of all of his achievements and even more excited about seeing him return to the club ahead of next season. We believe he is someone who has all the ingredients to be a standout player at this level.
