Centre Ollie Betteridge has joined Cambridge from Coventry. Ollie has played 22 games since joining Alex Rae’s squad two years ago including the final two league games of the 2023-24 campaign. He’s also played at Northampton Saints and rose through the ranks at the Butts Park Arena.

Having played with former Blood & Sand loanee James Martin and Will Wand, he’s no stranger to a flying winger and will look forward to joining up with Eli Caven, Kwaku Asiedu and Joe Green as well as partnering Matt Hema, Sam Hanks and Matt Williams at Grantchester Road.

Head coach Richie Williams says:

After meeting Ollie for a coffee a few months ago, I was immediately impressed by his level of maturity and understanding of the game.

For such a young player, he has a great deal of experience of professional rugby and the demands of the Championship. He is a ball playing 12 who is also robust enough to take the ball to the line. His athletic profile is different to some of the other midfield players that we have to the club.

He is another young player with a high ceiling of potential and someone who will benefit immeasurably under the tutelage of Anthony Allen.
