Tongan international Otumaka Mausia is the latest recruit to Cambridge Rugby’s burgeoning army. 28 year old Otu, who stands at 6’2″, is an experienced and uncompromising back who is equally at home at fly half, centre or full back.
Otu arrives at Cambridge from Moana Pasifika where he was part of the squad for the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season – alongside the likes of All Black Ardie Savea, the 2023 Rugby World Player of the Year. Following his debut for Tonga in the 2019 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup, against Samoa, Otu went on to earn his next caps before being named in the Tongan squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Head Coach Craig Newby is excited by our latest acquisition: “Otu is comfortable across multiple positions in the back line and is a class act in any jersey he pulls on. His ability to create and distribute is equal to his desire to go forward and to hit hard. Alongside his trusty left foot is a calm and clear leader who we welcome with open arms to support our team’s growth”.
Otu couldn’t be happier to join the fray at Ellgia Fields: “I’m just really excited for the opportunity to come and play my part in this team. I know that Cambridge Rugby and the community have big hopes for this coming season and I’m really excited to join the boys and get stuck in, especially under Coach Craig!”
Don’t miss your chance to see Otu and our other new signings in Champ Rugby action!
