Aussie skipper Ben Adams is rarely lost for words, but Saturday’s crowd almost left him speechless. “It got really loud, especially near the end when we had the line out in the corner for the final play of the game. Some of us couldn’t hear the call and we had to ask for it to be repeated – that’s never happened before! It was such a racket! The players that weren’t involved on Saturday, the Womens’ players, the crowd – it was pretty much unprecedented.

“We can take a lot from the first five games. Any mistakes we make will get punished, especially in this league, and we need to iron those out. We’re getting better, we’re getting closer as a group on the field, we’ve had more time together now than at the beginning of the season, we’ve gelled better, it’s starting to really click in parts and those periods of play where things haven’t gone our way are getting shorter and shorter.I’m trying to do my job, and if everyone does their jobs on a Saturday we’ll get a good outcome.

“It’s tough going in to Round 6 without a win – but when we cut loose we’re a match for anybody. Now we’re starting to click – and really putting performances together – and as I always say, the most important game is the next one, which is Richmond this Saturday. We showed last week and we’ve shown in other games this season that anyone who comes down this week and lends their voices to the crowd will help us bring some magic! We’ll keep on banging that rock until it cracks. It’s getting closer and closer. And we really appreciate you all bringing the noise!”
