Cambridge Head Coach Craig Newby has made one change to the side that drew 12-12 with Doncaster Knights in Champ Round 14.

This week’s fixture takes place at the RAG against London Scottish – kick off is at 3pm on Saturday 30th January

Here’s Craig:

“We’re looking at last Saturday’s draw with Doncaster Knights as more ‘glass half full’ than ‘glass empty’. We played pretty well for pretty much 80 minutes, despite a few mistakes, and pushed a full time outfit all the way to the end. We’ll take a lot of confidence away from that 80 minutes, which we’re proud of. I’m glad Donny missed that kick in the end as it would have been a real kick in the guts had it gone over – if we’d lost that game it certainly wouldn’t have been a reflection on the effort put in. So – it’s exciting to see that progress and the morale is good in the camp. It’s given us some bounce – and we celebrate as many of the positives as we can.

“Despite how big this game is against London Scottish, we’re treating it as a normal week. There’s no complacency in the building. It’s a huge game for both clubs. If I’m Scottish, sitting down in London, you beat Cambridge this week it’s probably secured your season. We’re sitting here, we need to win this game and we’ll do everything we possibly can to make that happen. There’s plenty to play for at the bottom of the table as well as the top, if you’re battling for semi finals or finals or winning the league – the processes are the same and we’ll do what we can to get the result we want.

“We’ll roll our sleeves up, get the work done, get the detail right off the field and drive standards. We’re in a fight the whole time. In an ideal world, I’d love us to have a good lead going into the last five minutes so we can enjoy it – but I’m sure it’ll be lot more difficult than that. Scottish are a good side – we have to be better than them on the day to get the win we want.”

Eli Caven isn’t fit enough to return after being replaced just before half time last weekend – Joe Green has earned a recall. Gareth Baxter is still out – as are Zac Nearchou and Sam Asotasi.
